...back to school...

 ...I remember learning to sew zips in... pencil cases were project #1... this year my boy asked for blue... his current favourite colour... and as you can see most his school supplies are blue too...

...I love covered books... usually use recycled wrapping paper, but this year one of the larger books we used an old poster that had a small rip... he was very excited about that one...

...oven cloths/ mitts...

...I've decided I actually do like quilting random little things like these... although I'm still too scared to try a real size quilt... or anything actually all-that-structured in fact....anyway...my mum volunteered me to make oven cloths for our family farm Christmas this year... I was procrastinating over it something terrible because felt like didn't have the right stuff in the stash to do it... then the man of the house asked me to cut off couple pairs of his jeans for shorts... and VOILA!!! - suddenly I have the perfect fabric precut perfect size!! I also recycled op shop jerseys for the heat protecting insides... with inspiration for the woven detail from my cousin and her wedding invites nearly 8 years ago!!! (Wow cuz!).... and can you tell how much fun I had with the patterns on the machine.... :)

...colour co-ordinated nesting...

... so nesting AND crafting?!?...trying to work some stuff and things (and activities) around the 7 year old so it's not ALL baby sister constantly.... we revamped (and scrubbed) his desk area to colour co-ordinate with other bits and pieces in his room... recovered old tins/ containers and the "works-in-process" holder on his door is recycled toilet rolls... and he tells me there is now a code which you have to touch the rolls in the right order the right number of times to get in.... hehehe.... told him if I can't get in (i.e. don't know the code) he'll have to keep it all tidy himself... oh and decided I must be nesting after I washed the front door...lol...

...tidy house...

...my crafting room is no longer... it's lil sister's room now... so as my desk and supplies are now in the (very visible) living area of the house - here is some of the organising/ pretty-ing of stuff into spaces acheived in last few weeks while being STAH mum with nothing better to do...?!?.... yay for milo tins, jam/ coffee jars, old giftwrap and craft glue... was planning for a theme to encompass the whole desk... didn't really happen.... one area silver/ white, one red, one BRIGHT, one blues/greens... but at least it's all recycled...
